The Frazer-Nash Namir by Giugiaro claims to be the world's fastest hybrid.
The concept is a collaboration between Italdesign, Giugiaro and Frazer-Nash. The Namir - meaning Tiger - is an ecological vehicle. The hybrid system developed together with Frazer-Nash uses an 814 cc endothermic rotary engine to charge a 400V 108 cell lithium-ion battery pack which in turn drives four electric motors, 2 per axle, that together generate 362bhp (270kW).
The Namir accelerates from 0-62mph (100kph) in 3.5 secs and on to a top speed of 187 mph. Fuel consumption has been quoted at 37km per 1 litre of fuel, that's a staggering 110 mpg.
As a concept the Namir is a showcase to sell hybrid powertrains, no customer build is anticipated.
