The awesome, aggressive, Apollo Speed, is not for just any man.

With infinitely irrepressible propulsion of up to 800 hp, the Gumpert Apollo Speed accelerates from 0 to 200 km/h in less than nine seconds and on to a top speed of more than 360 km/h.

Gumpert sets new Nurburgring record.

Gumpert is presently claiming that its Apollo Sport has set a new, road legal production car, Nurburgring lap record. The time set by the Apollo Sport was independently timed by German magazine Sport-Auto and comes in at 7m 11.57s. The Apollo Sport was piloted by 26 year-old driver Florian Gruber on August 13.

According to Sport-Auto the record was previously held by Michael Düchting who clocked in at 7m14.89s in a Donkervoort D8 RS06 in November 2005. However it’s well known that the Radical SR8 in road legal trim has clocked a blistering 6m 55s lap time, so the claim could be contentious.

No matter what, the Apollo will still remain a technical masterpiece.

Latest News:

Michael Vergers has turned up at the Nurburgring in a Radical SR8 LM and done a lap time of 6m 48s.

Quote from an article posted in Cars UK

"I suppose we could question this time as much as we did Gumpert’s yesterday. The press release says they ran on Dunlop slicks. Does that make it road legal? Tyres that weren’t road-legal was one of Porsche’s gripes over the Nissan GT-R Nurburgring record. Still, I suppose they could have been cut slicks, which are road legal."

What we need is an official ruling. Personally I'd give it to Gumpert, the Radical is just a big go-kart. One I very much like! So let's see what Radical has to say. READ ON >>>
